A recent outbreak of the Ebola virus has been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with cases also recorded in neighbouring Uganda.

In response, Nigeria has stepped up preparedness measures. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has placed the country on high alert, intensified surveillance at borders and points of entry, and activated emergency response systems. Encouragingly, no confirmed case has been reported in Nigeria

Ebola spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids and can present symptoms such as fever, weakness, vomiting, and, in severe cases, bleeding.

    Prevention:

  • Practice regular handwashing and good hygiene
  • Avoid contact with bodily fluids
  • Report early if you notice unusual symptoms

Staying informed and maintaining basic hygiene remains our best defence.
